The system also gained the ability to create and communicate paper drawings automatically. Since drawing tables were the main form of documentation in the drafting business, the ability to easily draw these tables on paper, then convert them to drawings, was important. The ability to translate one into the other automatically also brought significant productivity gains.

The AutoCAD Concept was also an indirect tool for Autodesk to promote the development of AutoCAD. It was easy for Autodesk to develop the technology for the Concept, since it was already in use by several hundred people. Thus, Autodesk could then use its AutoCAD system to drive development of the next generation of their CAD system.
